Rosellas Community Preschool

Meet Our Team

Lisa Bilson

Director / Nominated Supervisor

Graduate Diploma of Education

I’ve been working in the education sector since 2009, after originally starting my career as a Veterinary Technician. I began my teaching in primary schools but found my true passion was in early childhood education in 2012. I’m committed to creating a safe, nurturing space where children feel valued, supported, and inspired to learn. Building genuine connections with children, families, and colleagues is at the heart of what I do.

Preschool education is close to my heart—I love creating opportunities that help children grow and set them up for a lifelong love of learning. The most special moments I hear are when older children, or even adults, share fond memories of their time at preschool and the teachers that left a special mark on their hearts.

When I’m not at work, you’ll find me cheering on my four kids at sports fields or speedway tracks, sharing their passions, or escaping to nature and the open road in our caravan whenever I can.

Natalie Dickinson

Education Leader/ Teacher/ RP

Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education)

I am a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and also the Educational Leader here at Rosellas. I have worked in the Early childhood sector for 25 years now. I gained my Early childhood teaching degree in 2011 and have been working in Community Preschool since that time.

I have a special interest in Music, as a singer/songwriter, and theatre (once upon a time, I completed a degree in acting and worked all around NQ in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander theatre company called Yarn up). I use these skills to write songs about what our special interests at preschool are and support children's social and emotional learning through theatre techniques.

I have been a local to this area for many years and live with my partner and 2 teenage kids! Together, we love going to the beach and adventuring on holidays. I feel blessed to support the children and families in our community.

Kylie Cave

Preschool Coordination/Responsible Person

Associate Diploma of Social Science – Child Studies

I've been part of the early childhood education sector for over 30 years, and throughout this journey, I've embraced a variety of roles—from support educator, lead educator, assistant director, and cook, to casual work and now Preschool Coordinator. My experience spans both not-for-profit and private long day care services. I also took time away from the sector to raise my four beautiful daughters, which was a deeply rewarding chapter of my life.

Since joining Rosellas in 2019, I've rediscovered my passion for early childhood education. I feel incredibly privileged to play a role in shaping children's early years. Every day, they surprise and inspire me with their curiosity, resilience, and the unique perspectives they bring.

Outside of preschool, I love spending time with my family—whether it's long drives, caravanning adventures, or simply enjoying the outdoors.

Sam Willis

Teacher/RP

Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)

I began working with Rosella’s in 2022 and have had the privilege of continuing ever since—initially casually, and now two days per week.

Before this, I spent over eight years as an educator across schools, community preschools, long day care, farm-based care, and family day care. I also worked as a family resource coordinator, supporting families of children with disabilities.

I believe every child is unique, capable, and an active constructor of their world. I value inclusive relationships with children, families, and the wider community, working collaboratively to support children’s well-being. My role is to inspire and encourage children to try, learn, and create, while celebrating their efforts and contributions.

Raised on a farm, I’ve always loved the outdoors. My favourite places are my garden and the surrounding bushland. I’m passionate about learning alongside children and believe nature fosters holistic growth through play and discovery.

I hold a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), a Bachelor of Health Science, and a Certificate III in Horticulture.

Welcome, and thank you for trusting me with your child—I’m excited to begin this journey with your family.

Hannah Edwards

Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

I have been proud to be part of the wonderful team at Rosellas Preschool since 2023. It’s a joy to work in such a supportive and inspiring environment, where children are encouraged to explore, grow, and thrive.

Supporting children’s development and helping them reach important milestones during their early years is something I find really rewarding. My goal is to create a safe, nurturing space where every child feels valued, confident, and free to express themselves. I love watching their personalities blossom as they engage in play, build friendships, and discover the world around them.

When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time outdoors—especially heading to the beach with friends and family. I also love experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen and find cooking to be a fun and creative outlet. Nature, food, and connection are all things that bring me joy and balance, and I love sharing those passions with the children I work with.

Carol Smith

Diploma of Children’s Services (Centre Based Care)

Hi, my name Carol. I began my journey in early childhood education in 1988, after completing my diploma with a strong passion for working with children with special needs. I was fortunate to be offered a position at Rosellas, where I’ve continued to grow both personally and professionally. With over 37 years of experience, I still find joy every day in supporting children as they learn, explore, and develop. I especially love group time—it's a special moment where children’s ideas come to life and lead us on unexpected and meaningful learning journeys.

I believe every child is a capable and curious learner. My role as an educator is to nurture that curiosity, listen deeply, and create a safe, inclusive space where children feel valued and empowered. I see learning as a collaborative process—led by the children’s interests, shaped by their questions, and guided by respectful, responsive relationships. I am committed to supporting each child’s growth at their own pace, celebrating their unique strengths and encouraging their voices to be heard.

Hannah Butler

Certificate 3 in Child’s Services

Hi, my name's Hannah and I started working at Rosellas Community Preschool in 2023. After having spent many years working in long daycare it has been a joy to make the change to a community preschool.

I have a passion for teaching through following the child's interests which can lead to some unique and slightly messy experiences. I'm always looking for some sort of creative or science related experience to keep active minds and bodies busy.

In my spare time I enjoy getting lost in a good book, trying out new recipes and spending time with my partner and our fur babies.

I look forward to meeting you and working alongside you to give your children the best, most memorable start to their learning.

With a special love for arts and crafts, I see creativity as a powerful tool for self-expression, problem-solving, exploration, imagination and building confidence. My philosophy is grounded in respect, connection, and child-led learning. I view each child as capable, unique, and full of potential. I am committed to building strong, trusting relationships and creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child feels safe, seen, and supported.

Liz Bowley

I have over 19 years of experience working in the early childhood sector. My journey began with a traineeship in a long day care centre, where I quickly discovered my passion for supporting young children in their learning and development. Since then, I’ve worked across a variety of early childhood settings, gaining valuable experience and insights along the way.

Throughout my career, I’ve balanced my professional life with raising my two beautiful children, which has deepened my understanding of the joys and challenges families face. I’ve also spent time helping my parents on their farm—moving cattle, tending to the land, and embracing the rhythm of rural life. These experiences have shaped my appreciation for nature, hard work, and the importance of community.

I’m passionate about creating nurturing environments where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to explore.

Julie White

Certificate 3 in Financial Services

Beginning my career in Sydney, I’ve spent over 35 years in Early Childhood Education, working across both Preschool and Long Day Care community-based settings. My journey has included roles in administration, as well as support and casual relief in the early days—experiences that have shaped my deep appreciation for this sector.

In 1996, my husband, our three daughters, and I made a sea/tree change to the beautiful Far North Coast. I was fortunate to join Rosellas, where I’ve proudly been part of the family for 29 years. As a natural nurturer, it’s a privilege to support our incredible team, who go above and beyond to create a loving, safe, and caring environment for children and families.

Despite many changes over the years, Rosellas remains a cherished part of the community, maintaining strong connections with past and returning families—something I find truly special.

When I’m not number crunching, I’m with my family, including my seven grandchildren—three of whom attended Rosellas. Living in Kingscliff, I enjoy beach walks, swims, and the occasional road trip with my husband—simple joys that keep me grounded.

Rosellas Community Preschool is managed and run by a dedicated volunteer committee.

This can occur in a variety of ways such as fundraising, social activities and providing valuable play resources to the preschool. The aim is to assist where required and add valuable parental involvement to the preschool program.
